How it works and how long it takes.
1. Level and prepare the surface so the epoxy lays flat.
2. Apply epoxy in layers, building color or metallic effects between coats.
3. Finish with a clear topcoat that resists stains and scratches.
Total time. A kitchen island takes 2 to 3 days, including cure. Each coat needs time to set before the next, so the build is spread over multiple days.
What changes it. Time varies with size, number of coats, and design complexity. A multi-color or metallic design takes more layers and more time.
